Getting Employees Involved In New Product Launch – Is It Worth The Time?
Getting employees involved in a new product launch can be a really important part of your marketing and sales which in turn will save you advertising expenses and also increase your income! That’s got to be good!
I am presently working on a large scale outdoor water screen and laser show at an exciting new venue in The Philippines with a beautiful aquarium and a simply stunning jelly fish room!
During one of my visits this week, I noticed that the venue had installed a new golf buggy service taking visitors from the main gate of the venue up to the hotel area. They had nice new buggies and pretty girls driving them.
During the short trip, the girl asked me what I was coming to visit and when I told her I was there to work on the new show, she replied “What show?”
I was able to ascertain that she knew absolutely nothing about the new coming show which the management were spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on!
This girl probably sees a couple of hundred people a day and if you multiply that by 5 or 6 of her friends, they are directly coming into contact with over 1,000 people a day!
What difference would it make to your income if they could encourage them to come back again and again?
So back to the original question – Getting Employees Involved In New Product Launch – Is It Worth The Time?
I would say a definite yes!
Getting Employees Involved In New Product Launch
First I think we need to established why you need to involve your employees.
- You are paying them already!
- They have direct contact with your customers!
- It’s cheaper than advertising!
- Keeps your staff interested in their job!
Our employees are a big investment to us, so we need to not only use their talents, but also make them feel part of the team. There are many ways we can communicate with them:
- Put a note in their pay packet
- Run an ideas competition
- Have a weekly meeting
- Make them see the value in telling others
- Incentives to hard working employees
Put A Note In Their Pay Packet
Every 15 days or so, you reward your employee for their hard work with a pay packet full of cash. They excitedly rip open the packets to get their hard earned deserts and along with their money is a leaflet from you about all the new and exciting features coming to your company. What a great way to get the buzz going!
Run An Ideas Competition
You will be surprised at how creative some of your team will be when given the chance. You may have a research and development team, but these people think differently to the actual ground crew and they see life from a different point of view. So you may want to consider opening up a small competition for ideas for your new launch or simply general goings-on in the company. You can reward financially or with things like lap-tops, i-pods or other desirable goodies!
Have A Weekly Meeting
Well first of all you should be doing this anyway. Not only your managers, but senior management should be seen at these meetings so that everyone get to know one another.
Getting Employees Involved In New Product Launch is easy at these meeting. You can let the employees know what is coming, discuss the project and let them know how they can valuable be involved.
Make Them See The Value In Telling Others
If you really are interested in Getting Employees Involved In New Product Launch, then you need to show them the value for them.
So what if the company is launching a new product? What do the employees care? Will they get part of the profit?
Employees can be highly motivated (not ordered!) to be part of the company when they understand the value for them. It may mean that if the company is successful, they will earn more money or if their team is the best sales force, they will get a promotion. People rarely work just for money with any particular company and they will rarely work for a long period of time without some form of compensation.
This compensation could be financial, recognition, or some other incentive to get them involved.
Incentives To Hard Working Employees
We have already touched on this, but if your company is going to make more money, it is only fair that employees should also benefit.
There are literally thousands of different items you can give to employees from cash, to gifts, to holidays, to promotions and many more items.Make sure the incentives are sufficiently high to motivate the staff be
involved.
The staff are one of your greatest assets. No staff – no work! No work – No income! so it is imperative that you do all that you can to start Getting Employees Involved In New Product Launch
